With three games left in the regular season, the PCM Mustang boys basketball team had a chance to take control of the Heart of Iowa Conference with games against all three teams competing with the Mustangs for the conference title.

Nevada, Greene County, and Gilbert stood in the way of another conference title for the Mustangs and the Mustangs would go cold from outside in all three contests and a lack of bench scoring would cause the Mustangs to drop all three games by a combined 25 points, including an overtime loss traveling to Greene County. The cold streak to end their season does not define it however, as the Mustangs previously would go on a five game winning streak including an 18 point win at rival North Polk, and a win over non-conference opponent Fairfield. Despite bowing out with no playoff wins and on a four game losing streak, the Mustangs season can still be counted as a major success, a 10-6 record and a third place finish in an extremely competitive Heart of Iowa Conference. A full recap of the Mustangs season can be hard on the Knoxville Hyvee Radio Coaches Corner in the coming weeks.
