In the state semifinals round, often times the usual powerhouse schools will clash as the remaining teams play for a right at championship gold, and Thursday will be no exception.

There will be no shortage of coaching experience and recent accolades in the Class 2A semifinals match up between Pella Christian and Cascade, who are led by Hall of Fame Coach Al Marshall, who has tallied 737 victories in his storied career.

Eagles Head Coach Larry Hessing–who earned his 400th win at PC on Monday, says Marshall has kept his game plan about the same over four decades — but it’s also been very good, and won’t be easy to beat.

“When you play Cascade, you know you’re going to get a 2-3 zone on defense and that’s not going to change, and it seems like Cascade always has a big guy in the middle,” Hessing says.

The Cougars are making their 4th trip to the State Semifinals in history and are playing for their 1st ever title; Pella Christian is trying to get their fourth championship in their 11th-ever placement in the final four.
