The Pella Lady Dutch will be up early at Wells Fargo Arena to kick off what they hope is a deep run in the Class 4A state tournament today.

Pella plays 20-1 Lewis Central of Council Bluffs, the number 2 overall seed. Head Coach Jerod Garland expects a fast, aggressive Titans press that looks to exploit a perceived weakness of the Lady Dutch Team — their high number of turnovers.

“Their press is not over if you break it in the frontcourt or the backcourt,” Garland says, “They will find you from behind and look to trap as you get the ball even into the backcourt, which is not something you see teams do.”

Looking at the overall picture, not much separates the two teams, either. Statistically, Pella has a slight edge in points per game and rebounds, and Lewis Central is much more efficient in their assist to turnover ratio. Both teams are close in shooting percentage and the number of steals and blocks.

Our coverage begins at 9:40 a.m. on 92.1 KRLS, with Andrew Schneider and Brian Vande Lune calling the action.
