The first round of severe weather this spring may make its way through south central Iowa this evening.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a slight risk of severe thunderstorms exists in Marion County and the surrounding area.

The primary threats will be large hail and damaging winds, likely after 7 p.m. Storms are likely to begin in far western/southwest Iowa around 3 pm and increase to the east during the evening hours. After 9 pm, the chances for severe storms will be lessening.
