Extending their season to the NCAA Division III National Tournament in dramatic fashion, the Central men’s basketball team gained regional and conference honors for their efforts in 2015-16. Junior Pete Walker was chosen to the second team all-Iowa Conference. Walker scored over ten points per game during the conference slate, and was third in the league with an average of 3.4 assists per game. He added six rebounds and roughly a steal per contest, as well. Colby Taylor garnered first team all-league honors with another dominant effort for the Dutch. The junior scored over 18 points per game in league game, good for fourth most, and grabbed the third most rebounds per game with over nine. Taylor was also selected to the D3hoops.com All-West Region third team. For the season, he averaged nearly a double-double each time out, highlighted by a 42-point effort against Nebraska Wesleyan on November 28. Colby is currently sitting eighth on the all-time scoring list at Central with 1,306 points, only 269 points behind the record holder, Jeff Verhoef, which has been in place since 1980. Central finished the season with a 19 – 10 overall record.
