With most of their minutes and scoring coming from a seven girl junior class, the PCM Mustang Girls basketball squad would not forget the contributions of the team’s two seniors on the team.

Emily Hugen and Karina VanDyke would not put up the raw stats, but as many know there is much more to basketball than points scored. Their experience and calmness on the court would be a huge boon to the Mustangs, as many of the younger girls were getting their first varsity experience. Hugen would average only .7 points per game, but hit several clutch shots throughout the season to keep a Mustangs run going, while VanDyke would spell Kaylee Townsend at center and continually grow into her role throughout the season.

Their attitude is why they remained integral parts of the team throughout the season PCM Head Coach Jeff Lindsay tells KNIA/KRLS Sports. The Mustangs will put those lessons into action next season as the junior class will move into the senior leadership roles. A full recap of the Mustangs season can be heard on the Knoxville Hyvee Radio Coaches Corner this Saturday.
