Pella High boys’ track and field senior, Chase Van Sant, has already won a state championship with the football team, and he hopes this spring to help another team take home the hardware. Van Sant was ranked No. 1 in the long jump last year going into the Class 3A state meet. Unfortunately, Chase did not qualify a jump during his performance at Drake Stadium. Coach Brent Van Hauen tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that he has not let that get him down. In fact, Van Hauen says he has worked even harder to improve just about every aspect of his craft. Van Hauen adds that despite a strong start to the spring, the entire team needs to focus on the process over the product, and work on getting better each time out. Pella will compete in the Waukee Invitational next Thursday for their first outdoor meet of the season.
