The wheels might have finally fallen off for the Central baseball team. The Dutch were swept in the first two games of their series at Dubuque on Friday, 6 – 2 and 9 – 2. They had 14 hits in the doubleheader, but the big one went missing in another frustrating night. Game one saw the Spartans get out to a 5 – 0 lead after three innings which held the rest of the way. Five errors in game two spelled doom for Central, as Dubuque scored in each frame that the Dutch made a mistake in the field. The Spartans added 11 hits offensively to make Central pay for the errors. Michael Reuter went 2-for-4 in both games with two doubles. Central falls to 8 – 26 overall, and they sit in last place in the Iowa Conference with a mark of 5 – 17. The Dutch are three games out of sixth place with six games left to play. Today’s twin-bill has been postponed and will take place tomorrow at Dubuque.
