Pella High’s girls’ soccer team is back in action tonight with a big mid-season test against a like-ranked foe. The No. 1 team in Class 2A will be on the road at Class 1A, No. 1-Nevada this evening in a battle of two similar defenses. The Lady Dutch dropped their first two games of the season on Saturday at Nevada in tournament action against Johnston and Southeast Polk by just one goal. Through nine games, the 7 – 2 Pella girls have shutout opponents six times and have allowed just six goals, three of those coming against Grinnell. The Cubs are 6 – 3, and have allowed eight goals in the same time frame, including a close battle against a high-ranked Class 3A Ankeny Centennial a few weeks ago. Coach Mark Howard expects another low-scoring game today, and says their true push towards the postseason continues after it began on Saturday. The JV teams will play first at 5:30 p.m. with varsity to follow at about 7:00.
