With a good portion of their team focused on today’s Drake Relays, the Pella High girls’ track and field team still won their home Tulip Time meet last night. Pella High scored a total of 165 points, beating second-place Oskaloosa by 41. PCM was fourth with 91 in the larger schools division. In a warm-up for their event on Saturday, the varsity shuttle hurdle relay team of Kiki Pingel, Sydney Weppler, Emma Thoreson, and Corin McKinstrey took the gold by over five seconds. Pella won the distance medley relay, 4 x 200 meter relay, went 1-2 in the 800 meter run, 100 and 200 meter dashes. The Mustangs were victorious in the 4 x 400 meter relay, sprint medley relay, and Ashley Van Gorp won the long jump. The Eagles won the 4 x 100 and 200 meter relays, and finished second to Lynnville-Sully in the sprint med. They were fifth overall in the team rankings for the smaller schools division. Cloee Stout stood out for Twin Cedars with her second place finish in the 400 meter dash. A link to full results can be found below.
