The Eagles’ boys soccer team continued their big start to the 2016 campaign by quieting North Polk in a 4-0 non-conference shutout Thursday night.

Pella Christian had four different players tally goals, including Davi Simoes, Gabe Soler, Alex Pringle and Kyle Fynaardt. Head Coach Gerrit Brouwer said it was a a physical contest, but the team responded well to the Comets’ attack.

“We were able to overcome the physicality with just nice one-two-touch soccer,” Brouwer said.

The Eagles girls fell to the Comets on the road 6-0. Head Coach Mike Buchheit says his team showed defensive improvement after a few early breakdowns in the first few minutes.

“”[The girls] started putting together several counter attacks to only give up two goals over the next 50 minutes,” he says.

Lindsey Breon did not play in the game. Pella Christian’s boys are a perfect 6-0 on the season, and the girls fall to 3-3. Both face crosstown rival Pella Tuesday.
