Legislation authored by Representative Greg Heartsill after being proposed by Marion County Attorney Ed Bull has passed through the House and is on its way to the Senate.

The bill deals with expanding the scope of laws preventing peeping. The legislation allows courts to consider an action peeping as long the victim had an expectation of privacy.Current laws stipulate that the prosecution must prove arousal of the perpetrator which Heartsill says makes it very difficult to convict even in cases where invasion of privacy is clear. This is the second year that the legislation has made its way through the process, last year it was passed through the House, but died in the Senate.
