Pella ran away and lapped the field including a few class four-A teams in the Newton Cardinal Invitational last night.

Fighting rain, hail and sloppy conditions the Dutch scored 162.5 points outdistancing runner-up Cedar Rapids Prairie by 45.5 points. Knoxville was sixth with 60 points and Pella Christian finished in 11th with 16 points. For Pella Annika Pingel won the 100, Kiki Pingel took the 400 meter hurdles, while Emma Thoreson won the 100 hurdles, Paighton Malek won the long jump, and the Lady Dutch took wins in the 4×100, 200, 800, sprint medley, and shuttle hurdle relays. For Knoxville Kendrea Richardson continued her dominance in the 200 by winning that race by nearly a second. Sydney Washington placed third in the 400, and Kayla Moats came in second in the high jump. Pella Christian’s 4×100 meter team took second and Elizabeth Van Manen took second in the discus.
