Four extremely talented soccer teams do battle on the soccer pitch this evening when in-town rivals Pella and Pella Christian face-off for a girls’ and boys’ conference match.

The Lady Dutch are currently ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 2A and are unblemished this season with a 5 – 0 record. However, Pella has been pushed recently, just able to edge Grinnell last Tuesday, 4 – 3. The Eagles’ girls, through just six games, already have 60% of their wins from a season ago with a younger team. Pella vs. Pella Christian’s girls’ game is at Pella High tonight. Pella Christian gave the Little Dutch a good fight last year in a one-goal game, and tonight may be another thriller. The Eagles are 6 – 0 with a 2 – 0 record within the Little Hawkeye Conference. Pella will have to try to shut down Davi Simoes and Gabriel Soler, who have combined for 14 of the team’s 21 goals this year, and try to solve goaltender Josh Fopma, who carries a .824 save percentage into tonight’s game. Both varsity games are scheduled to start at around 7:00 p.m.
