The Pella Little Dutch soccer team pulled away after an aggressive attack in the 2nd half of their 6-1 victory over Knoxville’s boys last night.

Despite easily outshooting the Panthers throughout the game, Pella had difficulty finding the back of the net on numerous shots, with many knocking off of the posts and goalkeeper Nick Moats.

But a big flurry that started with 25 minutes remaining in regulation put the Little Dutch on cruise control for the remainder. Head Coach Mark Solomon described the first half as sloppy, but felt the team adjusted well after halftime.

“We talked at halftime about how we wanted to be more aggressive in going after the ball and possessing, and trying to make sure the looks we got on goal were taken with a little more care and a little more quality,” Solomon says.

Will Warner led Pella with four goals, Chase Larson of Knoxville scored the lone tally for the Panthers. Pella is now 6-5 and hosts a tournament Saturday morning; the Panthers are 5-5 and host Grinnell Friday.
