Despite a soggy slog through Pella’s Golf and Country Club, three area teams played some of their best golf to date yesterday.

Pleasantville’s girls edged out Pella 186-190 to win a Marion County triangular. Knoxville finished 3rd with a team score of 217.

The Trojans’ Hannah Gordon was meet medalist with her card of 43, followed by teammate Bailey Oliva and Aanna Roslien of the Lady Dutch with 45 each. Knoxville was led by Sierra Findley’s team-low 48 strokes.

Trojans Coach Dan Calhoun tells KNIA/KRLS he’s happy to win against top competition on Pella’s home course. Lady Dutch Coach Mike Vint said it was a fun meet to watch, and he’s happy with how his girls’ responded to the challenge despite the end result.

Panthers Coach Matt Heston says Pleasantville and Pella have balanced attacks, and a lot of the Knoxville girls got off to slow starts on holes.

“The Knoxville girls were very inconsistent off the tee, which led to some high scores on certain holes,” he says. “Progress is being made.”

Pleasantville is back in action Thursday at home in a quad meet against South Central conference teams, Pella returns to conference action later today at home against Norwalk and Oskaloosa, and Knoxville will travel to the Osky Invite on Thursday.
