On a night the tennis courts were a bit damp, the Pella High girls’ tennis team pounded Newton, 9 – 2, in a Little Hawkeye Conference dual meet. There was an hour-and-a-half delay between the singles and doubles matches due to the weather system that moved through the area in the evening. Pella won five of the six singles matches, with the only loss coming from Lily Roozeboom at No. 1 singles, who went to a third-set tiebreaker with Megan Pressgrove of the Cardinals. Roozeboom was injured, and was unable to team up with Lauren Kriegel for the doubles match, so the Lady Dutch had to forfeit. They won their other four team matches to complete the 9 – 2 victory. Full results can be found below. Girls’ tennis returns to action on the road in a rescheduled meet from early April this Monday at Ottumwa.
