The Central baseball team squandered another pair of early leads as they were swept in the final two games of their four-game series with Simpson last night, 10 – 7 (8 inn.) and 5 – 3. Game one saw Central storm out to a 5 – 0 lead, then 6 – 3, before Simpson took the lead with four runs in the sixth. Spencer Gritsch hit a clutch game-tying double in the bottom half of the inning to send the contest to extras. The Storm touched home three times in the eighth on three hits and a Central error and hung on to win. The Dutch led game two after the first inning, 2 – 0, which held until the fourth; Simpson scored five runs in a three inning span. Gritsch, Ryan Bouwman, and Garrett Saunders all had a multiple-hit day for the Dutch, who drop to 7 – 19 overall and 5 – 11 in league play. They begin a four-game set with Wartburg in the Tulip City this Friday.
