A Knoxville woman accused of taking another person’s child without permission was sentenced Friday to time served.
Knoxville Police arrested 27-year-old Samantha Lynn Burton-Ogden in March of 2015. According to court records, Burton-Ogden took a two-year-old child from a neighboring apartment at a complex along West Madison Street. She then took the child into her apartment and locked the door, refusing to unlock it for child’s mother. Burton-Ogden finally allowed the mother to retrieve her child, then jumped from the third floor of her apartment building and fled. She was later located at a motel in Knoxville. Burton-Ogden was sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to False Imprisonment, a Serious Misdemeanor.
