Biology major and Central football star, Taylor Cox, was awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship for his excellence in athletics and academics yesterday. Cox also minors in Spanish, chemistry, and psychology and currently holds a 4.0 grade point average. The scholarship is for $7,500, and he is one of just 29 male honorees in the country. Cox will attend the University of Iowa this fall as he pursues a doctorate in medicine. Spencer Hammack was the last Central athlete to receive a postgraduate scholarship, in the spring of 2015. To be eligible for the monetary award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 GPA, have performed with distinction in athletics and behaved in a manner that brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution, and college athletics both on and off the field.
