E-readers will soon be available for checkout at the Knoxville Public Library.

Library Director Roslin Thompson says the popularity of downloadable books through the library’s Bridges program, an online resource that allows books not otherwise available at the library to be checked out, has driven the decision to offer them. The e-readers will be available to all library card holders above the age of eight and can be checked out for four hours at a time. Library staff will be on hand to assist patrons with the devices.
