The 9th Annual running of the Firecracker 5K will take place in Pleasantville this summer.

Carly Cummings, one of the organizers tells KNIA/KRLS News the run has a special emphasis on veterans this year. The proceeds from the event will go towards local military families and the Pleasantville Fire Department. Veterans and active military can participate in the run for free. Cummings says the first Firecracker 5K only had 50 runners and this year they are expecting as many as 300 people to sign-up. Cummings encourages runners to register early so they can be sure to get a t-shirt. Celebrations after the run will also include a prize raffle open to everyone in attendance. The race will be run July 2. To register visit getmeregistered.com or request paper forms from Rod Horsman at rhorsman@plumbsupply.com.
