Even with some spring sports still going on, baseball and softball will throw their first official pitches Monday for the 2016 season. In the Tulip City, the Pella High baseball team will start their trek back to Principal Park tonight on the road versus Carlisle; while Pella Christian’s boys and girls are in Pleasantville for separate contests against the Trojans. The 22 – 10 Eagles’ softball team will try to start off on the right foot after their season came to a surprising early end a year ago in the regional tournament. They’ll be playing a Pleasantville team that they took down 4 – 1 early on a year ago. Both teams lost very few seniors from last year’s team and return a lot of talent on all sides of the ball. Our first broadcast of the season will be on this very diamond Monday night on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and on our free mobile app. Cory Houser will call the play-by-play with pre-game coverage set to begin at roughly 7:15 p.m., with first pitch scheduled for 7:30.
