Having known the athletic capabilities of Hunter Tyree from the football season, Pleasantville Head Track and Field/Football Coach Gabe Bakker knew the potential that the young long jumper could have.

Tyree will be the long state track representative for the Pleasantville Trojan Track and Field Team, a bigger feat now that the team is bumped up to class 2A from class 1A from a year ago. Competing against the bigger schools was no deterrent for Tyree, as he was a consistent points scorer not only in the long jump, but also trying his hand in the sprints and relay teams as well in different parts throughout the season. The sophomore is a long shot to win the state title, as the current jump is three feet further than Tyree’s longest but the experience will no doubt fuel Tyree’s growth for upcoming seasons. The state tournament will be held at the Blue Oval of Drake University this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
