After being limited to just one run on three hits in the season opener, the Knoxville Baseball Squad combined for 14 runs last night in their double header. The problem was, Oskaloosa combined for 19 runs and swept the two games by winning 12-8 in game one and holding on to win the nightcap 7-6 heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. In both games, the Indians got up big early 8-2 in the first game and 6-2 in the second game. Both times Knoxville battled back in it. After starter Tanner Sharp was lifted in the second inning, Knoxville’s Rylan Cox limited Oskaloosa to just one run on three hits and two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work. Assistant Coach Tyler Pearson told KNIA/KRLS Sports the offense and the mental toughness of the team was most impressive. Cox would take the loss, while Jacob Zuck was tagged with the loss in game one. Knoxville is now 0-3 on the season and will host Winterset on Thursday night.
