The Knoxville boys and girls of summer begin the chase for their respective South Central Conference titles tonight. Both teams host Eddyville-Blakesburg. The girls will try to duplicate a feat from last season when the Rockets were a top five team and the Panthers pulled the upset. The Rockets are against ranked in class 2A this time at number seven in the first Girls Union rankings. Coach Steph Christner tells KNIA/KRLS Sports while her more experienced players know all about big games, she is also confident that her younger players can shine on the big stage. You can hear the call on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA starting at 7:15. The baseball squad also plays an Eddyville team that struggled last season ending with an 11-27 record. Panthers Assistant Coach Tyler Pearson says their approach is not necessarily being concerned about who they are playing, but making sure Knoxville improves tonight. Baseball is a varsity double header and the first game will get underway at five from the Knoxville Baseball Complex.
