It is the busiest day on the spring sports calendar for Knoxville today, as all eight varsity sports are in action highlighted by the South Central Conference Track and Field Meet. For the girls, Davis County and Albia seem to be the favorites to win, however, Knoxville Coach Brad McWilliams is not discounting his team. While young, he has seen major improvement from nearly all runners and throwers. He tells KNIA/KRLS Sports this is the only meet of the season where scoring maximum points is the goal. McWilliams feels confident he can get several individual conference champions tonight. On the boy’s side, while not one of the favorites, Coach Eric Kellar expects his guys to compete in every event. He says that has been the case all season, and his throwers are seeing a lot of progress. Kellar adds a few that spent some time on the injured list may be back for tonight’s meet and for next week’s state qualifier.
