The Knoxville Water Works takes a wide range of precautions in order to secure water quality in Knoxville.

Manager Brian Bailey tells KNIA/KRLS News the water is tested for lead, phosphorous, fluoride, copper and other impurities. Taking steps to keep those levels healthy and safe is an everyday job. Staff coat pipes to prevent lead seeping into the water and perform a host of tests required by the DNR. Knoxville City water is drawn from the Jordan Aquifer. The aquifer is more than 2,000 feet below ground and spans much of Iowa.
