Ah, it’s the beauty of baseball. No clock; a game, at the high school level, is not over until that 21st out is recorded. Unfortunately for Pella High, that was the one they needed, as Carlisle lifted a walk-off three-run blast over the fence to sink the Dutch, 4 – 3. Pella was up 3 – 0 going into the seventh, but pitcher Grant Judkins gave up the walk-off hit with two outs and two runners on base. He is saddled with the loss, despite throwing 6 2/3 strong innings and striking out ten Wildcat batters. Jaden Rolffs was 2-for-3 offensively with a pair of runs batted in, and Landon Vander Leest added an RBI double. Pella will try to get right back on the horse tonight when they play at Des Moines North for a non-conference test.
