With yesterday’s meet nixed due to the weather, the Pella High boys’ and girls’ track and field teams will have the rest of the week to prepare for the State Qualifying Meet this Thursday at Bondurant-Farrar. The Little Dutch have competed at Waukee a few times, at Iowa State, Norwalk, the Drake Relays, and many other stacked venues that have pushed the athletic and deep Pella boys. The girls have also raced a similarly tough schedule. Pella’s depth has allowed Coach Brent Van Hauen the luxury of not over-extending many of his top guys, which he says is a benefit as the season enters its final two weeks. The state qualifying meet is a co-ed meet this Thursday, with field events scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. and track events at 4:30.
