The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved the use of the square for the Knoxville Farmer’s Market at their meeting Tuesday morning.

The application was granted after a short discussion of parking issues. The Farmer’s Market had difficulty obtaining approval from the city for the location, due to concerns about intrusiveness and impact on the square.

The board also decided against taking any action in regards to a bridge over English Creek east of Melcher-Dallas. After discussion of removing and creating a new road or replacing it with a low water crossing, the Supervisors decided to leave the English Creek bridge in its current state. Concerns from local landowners who use the bridge were heard and a few of those who attended the meeting agreed that they would prefer the bridge remain as it is. Future inspections of the bridge may deem it unsafe, at which point the Supervisors will re-visit the issue.
