Hurdles events rounded out the competition yesterday on the final day of the Drake Relays for 2016. The Pella High girls were up bright and early to compete in the shuttle hurdle relay. Kiki Pingel, Emily Holterhaus, Emma Thoreson, and Corin McKinstrey took the Lady Dutch to sixth place overall with a time of 65.97 seconds. They were less than half-a-second behind Des Moines East in the requisite fourth spot in order to qualify for the finals. Jayci Vos for the PCM girls’ track team qualified for the finals in the 400 meter hurdles, and placed eighth with a time of 66.43 seconds. Our local track teams are now turning their attention to this coming week where a majority will be competing in their conference meets.
