Battling wind and a bitter mid-May chill, the Pella Christian girls’ tennis team is advancing to the regional finals next weekend after topping the Tigers 5-2 Saturday afternoon.

Pella Christian’s Brooke Jorgensen got a match back from Grinnell’s number one Madison Krumm, who beat the Eagles’ freshman earlier this year in a tiebreaker. Jorgensen won in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. The duo of Abbie Vander Molen and Andrea Carballo earned the clinching fifth victory 6-2, 6-3 after Carballo’s tiebreaker loss in singles forced the teams into doubles play.

The Eagles will join the Panthers and Lady Dutch in the girls’ singles regional tournament hosted by Pella High Thursday, and advance to the team regional final Saturday in Iowa City.
