The Pella Christian baseball and softball teams each stayed undefeated to start the 2016 season with a pair of wins over West Marshall Wednesday.

On the softball side, Pella Christian edged out the Trojans in an eight-inning pitcher’s duel 1-0 at home. A series of errors in the bottom of the 8th did in West Marshall, as Kirsten Vander Hart scored the game winning run during Natalie Vos’s at-bat on an E8. Emma Schnell earned the complete game victory, striking out 13.

Pella Christian’s baseball team blew out West Marshall on the road 10-0 in 5 innings. Coach Nathan Johnson told KNIA/KRLS after the game it was another complete effort for his guys. Scott Haveman pitched all five for the Eagles, striking out two. Cade Vandermolen was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base, and Clay Stravers also drove a run in.

Both Eagles’ squads are 2-0. The boys host Iowa Christian Academy tonight, and the girls will join the baseball team on the road to Des Moines Christian Friday.
