A complete 80 minute effort was given by the Pella Christian girls’ soccer team, but unfortunately they were taking on one of the better teams in Class 2A, as they dropped to Dallas Center – Grimes, 3 – 0. Coach Mike Buchheit tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the team was missing several key starters but never relented over the course of the game. The Eagles fell behind early, 1 – 0, to the Mustangs, before eventually dropping a 2 – 1 decision. Sam Brouwer scored the game’s only goal for the Eagles to even the score at one per side late in the first half, before D-C-G scored the game winner with four seconds left in the second overtime period. The girls will next face Newton at home on Tuesday, while the boys await their second round opponent in the district soccer tournament this Wednesday.
