A Pella High School junior passed some of his coding knowledge to middle school during a new club this past semester.
Jason Seo started a computer coding club through the district’s talented and gifted program to get seventh and eighth graders excited about programming opportunities.
Seo wants to see younger kids get more opportunities to test their skills in the field.
“I think as a middle schooler, I think the first thing you need is that exposure and an attention grabber that gets you wanting to learn that advanced level, and to do that, I think what you need is a beginner level and to start building up from there,” he says.
Next fall, the club will run all year just as the middle school will add a one-semester computer coding course.
