BACHMAN,DENNIS DEAN 001

On Thursday, deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call along the Des Moines River and arrested a man for firing at fishermen with a shotgun and possession of methamphetamine.

According to court records, Dennis Dean Bachman of Pella, confronted people fishing in a boat adjacent to his property. Bachman felt that the fisherman were not following “the rules of the river” and became upset, throwing a rock near the vessel. When the boat didn’t move Bachman retrieved a shotgun from his home and fired into the water near it. When deputies made the arrest they found two bags on Bachman’s person that were later determined to be filled with crystal meth. Bachman is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon with intent to provoke fear or anger, possession of a controlled substance and possession of contraband in a correctional institution.
