The Pella School Board reviewed a number of topics related to construction at their final meeting of the 2015-16 academic year.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling says they approved a new preschool playground at Lincoln Elementary as that project nears total completion.

“It was about $30,000 for the preschool playground,” he says. “There will be some additional costs that we will have for the rubber tile around it.”

The board also closed out the contract for the career academy.

“We’ve occupied that building since August, and have had students in their all year, but there’s always some close out things that have to be done.” Ebeling says. “It really signified the release of the retainage we had to our contractor, and we were still holding about $270,000 of funding on that project.”

Ebeling says work will ramp up next week at the high school and Jefferson Intermediate school this summer.

The final day of class at Pella Community Schools is Friday.
