A group of bike riders who rode over the many roads of Iowa annually in one day decided instead to create an event closer to home.
The Pella Triathlon Club racked up more than 2800 miles to raise more than $26,000 for Bethany Christian Services through their first-ever Tour de Toren. Leah Garland with Bethany tells KNIA/KRLS News keeping the riders in one location allowed them to share more quality time with their families while raising money for a cause.
“It was just an amazing weekend,” she says. “It was really fun for riders getting to have their families support them and really get to see them.”
She’s thankful to many sponsors and a group that made donations throughout the 24-hour event.
Garland says they hope to raise more funds in the next few days to reach their $30,000 goal. Click here to learn more about Bethany Christian and to contribute.
