A night after handing Pella High their first conference loss of the season, Pella Christian’s baseball team followed it up with an 8 – 1 win over Colfax-Mingo on Thursday.

Scott Haveman knocked in the game’s first run in the opening inning with an RBI single, and the Eagles added single runs in the second and third, and two more in the fifth to take a 5 – 0 lead. Haveman had another run-scoring single in a three-run sixth inning, and eighth-grader Devin Haveman came up with a base hit that scored two more in the same frame. Wyatt Terpstra got the win on the mound, striking out nine batters and allowing just one run to score. The Tigerhawks had just two hits in the game versus the junior, and both of those came in the first inning. The Eagles improve to 15 – 9 this year, and have a big conference test tonight against Norwalk.
