Pella Christian’s baseball team found the win column in their doubleheader versus Norwalk on Wednesday night. Game one was all Eagles, as they raced out to a 2 – 0 lead in the early stages of the opener and breezed to a 9 – 2 win. Mac Sarver threw another spectacular game, allowing the two runs and striking out five. Cole VandeVoort and Kyle Sneller both knocked in runs for the Eagles. The Warriors got up on PC in the first inning of game two and held on for a 4 – 2 win to salvage a home split. Pella Christian had the tying run on base with one out, but a groundout and a strikeout stopped the late Eagle rally. The baseball team’s record now sits at 7 – 4 overall.
The offense for the PC softball team couldn’t get much going as they were shutout by Norwalk yesterday, 6 – 0. Norwalk’s senior pitcher, Taylor Goode, retired the first 13 batters she faced, before a double from Lizzy Van Manen broke up the perfect game in the fifth. Ivy Terpstra had the only other hit for Pella Christian, and they fall to 8 – 3 overall. Both teams are back on the diamond tonight at Lynnville-Sully.
