Also making in appearance in Mahaska County for softball action on Saturday was Pella Christian, and the Eagles did not disappoint. PC outscored their three opponents by a combined 35 – 4 en route to a spotless 3 – 0 record. Game one was a 10 – 2 win over Washington; a six-run fifth inning blew the game open for the Eagles. Natalie Vos had a two-run single in the frame, where most of the runs came around to score with two outs. Emma Schnell pitched and earned the win, and she was also toeing the rubber for the second contest, a 13 – 0 demolishing of South Hardin that ended after just three innings. Schnell threw three perfect innings, striking out six of the nine batters she faced, while the offense backed her up with a ten-run second inning. Courtney Johannes had a home run, and Natalie Vos also took one out of the park for a three-run blast that ended the game. Amanda Harrill and Elizabeth Van Manen each slugged a triple in the win. PC’s final game was a 12 – 2 win over West Burlington. Schnell also started the game in the center circle, and the offense muscled out 15 hits. Pella Christian’s record now sits at 7 – 1 on the year.
