A powerful Pella Christian softball team has exploded well out of the gate early in this 2016 season. The Eagles have rode strong pitching with a dynamic line-up that is hitting .346 this year with 30 extra-base hits in 122 at-bats. Emma Schnell has been every bit as good as she was last year, throwing five shutouts with a 1.81 ERA and 68 strikeouts. PC also holds a 2 – 2 record in a conference that features five ranked teams at the moment, including a 7 – 0 blanking of perennial powerhouse, Oskaloosa, last Friday night. Coach Karen Harrill says that yes, the season has started on the right foot, but there are a lot more strides the team still needs to make. The Eagles are off until Monday when they play at Grinnell for another conference bout.
