Rachel Evans graduated from the Central women’s basketball program following her 2014-15 season and left as the season’s top rebounder, scorer, and defender for the Dutch. Despite being hampered with injury, Evans scored 13.5 points, averaged nearly three steals, and had six rebounds per game in 17 appearances. Coach Chelsea Petersen knew it would be tough trying to replace her, but two athletes stepped up in her stead and performed at a high level on both sides of the ball. Jessica Helton averaged 6.5 points per game in a mostly bench role and was second on the team in steals with 40. Jackie Kriegel put up 6.6 points per game, was second in rebounding with about eight boards each time out, and had the third most amount of steals. Coach Petersen says these two and the effort from the entire team helped contributed to an all around better defense during the 2015-16 campaign.
