Brooke Mitrisin hit a lead-off home run off of Alyx Witt, and it’s all the Pella Christian softball team would need as they defeated Norwalk yesterday, 5 – 0. Lizzy Van Manen added a two-run homer in the same inning, and Courtney Johannes drove in two with a double in the fifth. Emma Schnell allowed no runs on six hits and struck out four as the Eagles handed the Warriors their second conference loss of the season. The fourth frame did in the Pella Christian baseball team against Carlisle. The Wildcats capitalized on two-run and three-run home runs in the inning to sprint past the Eagles, 6 – 2. Clay Stravers and Kade VanderMolen both had RBI singles in the third to take an early 2 – 1 lead, and had the tying run at the plate in the top of the seventh but couldn’t capitalize with the bases loaded. PC’s record is 9 – 6, the softball team is 11 – 3, and each squad is at Dallas Center – Grimes tonight to complete their first trip through the conference.
