It was a tale of two games in Chariton last night. The Knoxville Baseball Squad had things go their way from the start and never looked back in a 12-2 pasting of the Chargers in game one. Ben Wallace earned the win going the distance. Trent Davis was 3/4 with a double Calyn Bumgardner had a double and a triple and three RBI. If game one all went right, game two it seem to go just the opposite for the Panthers in a 7-2 loss to the Chargers. Knoxville had trouble figuring out Chariton’s pitching and several base running mistakes and mistakes in the field cost the Panthers. Returning from Prostate Cancer surgery Head Coach Joel Johnson returned the dugout last night. He told KNIA/KRLS Sports while disappointed to not get the sweep, he said his young team will learn from this and be better later on. Blake McClung took the loss in game two going five-plus innings giving up six runs on eight hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Knoxville is now six-and-six on the season and still lead the South Central Conference with a 6-2 record. The Knoxville Softball Squad was up early on Chariton but was unable to hold the lead and fell 9-3. Knoxville is 4-8 on the season and fall to two-and-three in the South Central Conference. Both Panthers squads will travel to Davis County on Friday.
