$10 bikes were sold by the Knoxville Police Department this morning.

Participants rushed to claim a bicycle when Chief Dan Losada declared the sale open at the stroke of ten. The first person to get a hand on a bike had the right to purchase it for $10 and ties were settled by Losada with a coin toss. According to Losada 75 were in the first 5 minutes and many people found exactly what they were looking for. The sale was held at the city storage facility on the southwest corner of the intersection of Rock Island and Roche. Losada declared the sale a success. All the funds from the sale will be added to the city’s general fund.
