They lost both games Friday during the Ankeny invitational, and Pella High’s softball team was able to grab a win in their two games on Saturday to conclude their stay. The Lady Dutch began with a 9 – 5 loss to Ankeny Centennial in the morning game. Sara Tallman was one of the offensive catalysts with a 3-for-5 day at the plate and she scored three runs. Lydia Dingeman also had three hits, including a double, and she drove in three runs. Elly Cairney was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Game two ended in Pella’s favor; a 10 – 8 win over Glenwood. Alexa Dingeman got the start on the mound and went six innings, striking out nine. Sabrina Tallman threw a pair of innings, striking out two, and was the pitcher of record. Pella High’s record stands at 14 – 14, and they return to the diamond on Monday with a trip to Norwalk.
