With the big goose egg in the runs and hits column for the home Pella High softball team, the Lady Dutch erupted for four runs in the fifth to beat a talented Dallas Center – Grimes team last night, 4 – 3. Alizabeth Van Dusseldorp had two hits, including a triple and an RBI, Hannah Emmert smacked an RBI double, and the big blow came from Pella’s shortstop, Destiny Brown, who hit the game-winning two-run double in the fifth to put her team up for good. The Lady Dutch are now 10 – 9 overall and the win is their first in conference play this season. They’ll return to the diamond on Saturday for a tournament in Oskaloosa.
