Emergency responders spent nearly an hour and half rescuing a man pinned in the cab of a concrete mixer yesterday.

The Manatts vehicle rolled over onto its side on 216th Place between Highway T-17 and Howell Station at 5:10 a.m.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office tells KNIA/KRLS News the loaded mixer was heading westbound towards the Lake Red Rock Hydroelectric project when the operator lost control and left the road, rolling almost two times over and landing on the driver’s side.

The driver had to be extracted from the vehicle, and suffered significant injuries. Mercy One Helicopter responded to transport the man to Mercy in Des Moines. He was alert and talking with emergency personnel as he was trapped in the cabin of the truck. Pella Rural Fire, Pella Ambulance, Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies, and the Pella PD responded and helped with the rescue.
